Tesco Pet Insurance UK: Cats And Dogs

There's nothing worse than when an animal's health is in jeopardy. When that animal happens to be the family pet it can be even more damaging. Luckily, there is pet insurance to keep a pet's health in tip top shape. In the UK, insurance normally doesn't come cheap, but there is at least one option for cheap pet insurance. Tesco pet insurance is one of the most popular options for UK pet insurance because of its low cost and coverage options.

There are two standard options for Tesco pet insurance: standard cover and extra cover. The standard coverage includes a maximum of 12 months coverage, and up to an additional  ₤2,500 to cover injury or illness. The extra coverage option includes an unlimited time of claiming. Also, Tesco pet insurance will cover up to ₤4,000 of the cost for injury or illness to the animal.

Both levels of insurance also provide a help line for emergencies. For instance, if a vet cannot be reached, Tesco pet insurance will find another one. They also offer support and someone to talk to if the pet passes away. Lastly, if there are legal issues, they will offer advice and a helping hand.

Within these options, Tesco pet insurance allows three additional options that can be added on to the current coverage. Tesco pet insurance offers up to ₤1,000 if a vacation is cut short because a pet is sick and up to ₤500 for boarding the animal if the owner is in the hospital. Another option that can be added on is reward money. Tesco pet insurance will offer up to ₤500 to advertise for a lost pet and up to ₤1,500 if the pet goes missing or is fatally injured. This money can also be used by owners to  pay for hospital bills or a funeral.

Tesco pet insurance also offers additional coverage for those owners that travel overseas often. They offer up to ₤1 million liability insurance if an animal causes damages to another perosn's property, but this excludes the United States and Canada. Tesco also offers up to ₤300 to cover emergency expenses while abroad.

Tesco pet insurance continues to feature lots of benefits to the pet owner. Some of these include 10% off the insurance cost if purchased online and an additional 5% off the insurance cost if more than one pet is insured with Tesco pet insurance. Other handy benefits that Tesco pet insurance provides is a free 8x6 colour portrait of the pet if ordered before April 24, 2007.

To purchase Tesco pet insurance, a pet owner needs to call the number that is listed on the official Tesco website. Before confirming purchase the operator will need the pet's breed and age and a valid email address. The owner will also be asked which coverage option they desire. A quote is then given for the pet insurance cost. Every situation is different, but generally Tesco pet insurance cost begins at ₤4 a month for cats health and ₤7 a month for dogs health. The insurance cost is higher for dogs health because canines can get into more trouble by being outside and are usually larger than cats.

The bottom line is pets get hurt and insurance is the best way to keep the dog or cat alive and well. Whether the owner travels abroad often or the pet gets in to a lot of trouble, Tesco pet insurance will be there to make it all right.
