History

For a dog breed that is so loved and on the rise as one of the preferred pets from the husky breeds, the Alaskan Klee Kai as a breed is amazingly just barely 5 decades old. During the mid 1970’s, original Alaskan Klee Kai breeder Ms. Linda Spurlin decided to cross various breeds of Nordic dogs including the Alaskan Huskies, Siberian Huskies, American Eskimo dogs with smaller breeds such as the Schipperke. Her goal? To produce cute and compact versions of the large northern and husky breeds. She hit the jackpot with the Alaskan Klee Kai and ended up creating three different sizes, the standard size, toy and miniature!

Personality

Alaskan Klee Klai’s are naturally high in energy. They love to bark and are heavy shedders so prepare to have a noisy and shedding full home. But their very affectionate nature, highly trainable adaptability and excellent intelligence makes it all worth it. The AKK breed are great home pets for their size, but they adore the outdoors and would show their playfulness and eager to please when outside.
