History

The American Allaunt is quite rare as a dog breed. In other words, it is one of the rarest dog breeds known today. However, today they are being developed to maintain the bloodline of an extinct medieval sheepdog breed called the Alaunt. Therefore, the Alaunt is the original and primary ancestor not only of the American Allaunt but of all known bulldog breeds.

Personality

The American Allaunt may look like a giant and a force to reckon with its impressive physical appearance. However, these dogs are genuinely affectionate, even-tempered, and very friendly to their owners and families. Also, they get along nicely with other dogs and pets.

However, when adopting an American Allaunt, it is crucial to know that they are very courageous and protective; therefore appropriate socialization and training are a must.

They are usually bred for hunting, weight pulling, and watchdogs.

Environment

Because of its size, this breed is not suitable for apartments and small houses. However, these dogs can quickly adapt to smaller indoor spaces if sufficiently exercised. Grooming
