Adopt an Amitola Bulldog, Dog Breed Guide

Introduction

Rare and truly hard to find. The Amitola Bulldog should resemble the more heavy-duty English bulldog, without the problems plaguing the larger bulldogs. Ironically, for a breed that is rare to find, there are currently three variants of this breed:

• The Titans which stands 16 to 17 inches or 40 to 43 cm and weighing 50 to 55 pounds or 22 to 25 kgs
• The Bantams which stands between 13 to 16 inches and weighs 30 to 50 pounds or 13 to 20 kgs
• The Miniatures, which stands between 11 to 14 inches or 28 – 35 cms and weighs between 22 to 45 pounds or 10 to 20 kg.

History

Amongst all the Bulldog types, the Amitola Bulldog is one of the youngest. This new Bulldog breed got its name from the Native American word that translates to the English word rainbow. Pioneer breeders and creators Lisa Allen and Candi Fortney decided to name these dogs Amitola. They wanted to come up with a name that best describes this bulldog, and the rainbow just fits perfectly. The Amitola is known to be very colorful and their name represents the wide range of colors that these dogs come in.

Personality

The Amitola Bulldog is a very loving, gentle and caring dog. Although not bred for protection, this cute dog has inherent guarding instincts. The dog is very well behaved with all family members including children. It likes to be around its family and will love to snuggle up on the couch. The breed is developed to be an all-rounder and despite its wrinkled face and lots of mass, it still has the athleticism needed to carry out different tasks. The dog can be used for a variety of tasks such as swimming and weight pulling. It has great endurance and can survive very hot seasons. The dog is very loyal and loving and expects the same from its owners. It makes an excellent family pet for a loving and caring family.

Amitola Bulldogs will do okay in an apartment if it is sufficiently exercised

Grooming

The short coat requires minimal grooming as once or twice a week brushing of the coat should be enough. It will need to be bathed only when necessary.

Training

The Amitola Bulldog is easy to train due to its intelligence and eagerness to learn new things. The owner should use a gentle and loving yet consistent training method that will yield the best results.

Health

The Amitolas are in great physical condition, not too heavy for the female and also toned enough for stamina in breeding.

Exercise

The dog is not very active and usually likes to be indoor snuggling against a family member rather than being outside and playing. The owner should take this dog for a daily walk.
