Introduction

Identified with the Australian Dingo, and sometimes called the American Dingo, The Carolina Dog is a breed that can trace its roots to ancient times. They are considered to be Pariah Dogs or those dogs that are not owned by anyone nor fully domesticated by very docile around humans and would accompany hunting expeditions.

History

The Carolina Dog is native to the United States. Its descendants are believed by some to have crossed the Bering Land Bridge along with the Paleolithic people. Many Carolina Dogs continue to live as feral dogs throughout the southeast United States, although they are becoming increasingly popular as pets. It is not uncommon for Carolina Dogs to interbreed with domestic dogs.

Personality

The Carolina Dingo as it is also called, is loyal, pack-oriented dogs. They are devoted and affectionate with its family but wary with strangers. They are protective but will not bite unprovoked. Without socialization, it is often shy. It rarely roams away from home.

They are pariah dogs who are known to be excellent companions during hunting expeditions

Environment

The Carolina Dog is not recommended for apartment life. These dogs require lots of open space for them to move. They adapt well to hot, sunny climates.

Grooming

The coat of the Carolina Dog is easy to groom and practically takes care of itself.

Training

They are considered pariah dogs and are not fully domesticated.

Health

No known health issues have been recorded to affect the Carolina Dog breed for recent years.

Exercise

The Carolina Dog should be taken for a daily, long walk.
