History
The Grand Anglo-Français Blanc et Noir or Great Anglo-Francais White and Black Hound are one of three hound breeds under the Grand Anglo-Français dog family. Their origins can be traced back during the 1800s where they were used as skilled scent hounds who hunts with the pack. Like the other two variants of Grand Anglo-Français, the Blanc et Noir was created by crossing scent hounds with French and English lineage. Some believed that they are direct descendants of the Bâtard anglo-saintongeois. These are dogs that resulted through a cross between Foxhounds and the old Saintongeois hounds. The purpose for their creation was to have a large dog who can hunt with the pack and effectively hunt large game the likes of Roe Deer, boars as well as medium-sized game animals such as the fox.

Personality
Grand Anglo-Français Blanc et Noir is even-tempered and lively. These large, powerful and hardworking dogs are good-natured. But they are not suitable for family life. These dogs are natural hunters and workers by heart.

Bred For
Developed to hunt large game animals and to hunt with the pack.

Environment
These hounds are not fit for apartment living conditions. They do not do well in the city as well. A rural area with a large space for them to roam is a must.

Grooming
Minimal grooming needed for their short straight coat.

Training
Bred to be pack hunters, they have a pack mentality and would be difficult to train if owners are not consistent and firm enough to be the pack leader.

Health
Like the other varieties of the Grand Anglo-Français dogs, there have been no unusual health problems documented on this breed’s medical history.

Exercise
Grand Anglo-Français Blanc et Noir dogs are natural hunting dogs and will require an immense amount of vigorous activities to keep them well balanced.
