History
The Griffon Bleu de Gascogne is a versatile hound breed that originates from France. It was developed to be a versatile hunting dog that can hunt all types of game from small to large-sized prey. They were also developed to be pack hunters, capable of working in teams while out on the field.

The modern Griffon Bleu de Gascogne dog breed is the descendants is descendants of the crosses made between the Griffon Nervais and the Bleu de Gascogne. Some lines of the Grand Griffon Vendéen were also put into this breed’s foundation stock. Today, this breed is considered to be among the rare breeds and promoted as companion pets outside of France.

Personality
The Griffon Bleu de Gascogne is a versatile scent hound that will display its highly excitable nature out on the field. These dogs will be affectionate towards their masters while off the job. They are pack hunters, dogs that will be excellent team players. Overall, these are hunting dogs that will be great workers as well as good companion pets.

The Griffon Bleu de Gascogne was created to be hunting and tracking dogs that can go after various sizes of game, from small to large-sized prey.

Environment
Griffon Bleu de Gascogne dogs are not suitable to have as apartment dogs. These dogs will thrive in rural and suburban areas with owners that are active.
