History
The Italian Pointer is one of many pointing dog breeds that are named after the country of their origin. Among all the European pointing dogs, this Italian gun dog is considered to be one of the oldest. These are dogs that originated in Italy and were first bred during the 14th century.

Personality
Italian Pointers are known to be even-tempered and loving towards friends and family. They are pointers that know the difference of work and play as they display different traits in different situations. When out on the field, these Italian pointing dogs are famous for being intense gun dogs! At home, these dogs will display their docile nature.

Bred For
Italian Pointing dogs were created to hunt small to medium game animals. These Italian bred pointers are one of the best gun dogs around.

Environment
Italian pointing dogs are dogs that will not be great in apartment buildings. They are also dogs not suite for city living. These Italian pointers will do better in rural or suburban homes with a large yard.

Grooming
No special attention to grooming is required.

Training
Obedience training is a must for these dogs but they are eager to please nature makes them easy to train.

Health
Italian Pointers dogs are known to be prone to bloat, entropion, hip dysplasia and kidney disease.

Exercise
Italian Pointing dogs are just addicted to outdoor activities. Taking these dogs on long walks every day as well as taking them on hunting trips every weekend will make these dogs extremely happy!
