We are a dedeicated group of volunteers who house abandon, abused and neglected dogs in our homes until they can find a forever home. Our organzition operates from the donations that we receive. We are a 501 C 3 non-profit organization so all donations are tax deductible. S.A.F.E. Animal Haven is comprised of a group of volunteers with many years of experience who came together with the belief that we could make a difference one animal at a time, one child at a time, one day at a time. Our volunteers conduct educational programs in our school system and try to network with other groups in order to make a difference in the world.
The adoption process includes an approved application, home visit to prospective home, and a signed contract when adopted
About Dan
Distance: 514 Miles
10/9/11 Dan continues to make strides. He still prefers to be left alone but is starting to let us pet him. He knows his job is to keep the yard safe from predators like the UPS man and the squirrels. Of course if anyone came near him he would tuck his tail and run away. He is crate trained but loves being loss in the house curled up on a dog bed or couch if available. Dan will need a fenced in yard to make him feel safe. He promises he will keep the yard safe for you as well. Dan has been in foster care for several years and deserves to have someone give him a chance.
6/22/11 - Dan is doing better. He is a handsome dog that is still leery of people. He will approach humans on his own terms. He is not trusting of new humans. He just needs someone to give him a chance and will be a great dog. He loves being in the house, is housebroken and not a chewer. He is crate trained and gets along with other dogs. He will protect your yard from pesky squirrels and other critters that will come near your fence. If you have room in your heart and patience for earning Dan's trust then he will learn to love you back. Dan will require a traditional fenced in yard.
8/27/10 Dan continues to be leery of humans. He is doing well in his foster home but prefers t keep his distance from humans. He will play with all of the dogs and does well. He is looking for a special family that will work with him to feel comfortable with them.
1/19/09 Dan is still looking for a forever home. He is a sweet dog but is still a bit afraid of people but has come a long way. He loves to be in the house with the humans. He will curl up on a dog bed and take the world in as it passes him. He will now come over and give kisses to a human's hand. But he still needs to do things on his time. He will not let you catch him when he is out but will come in when you ask. He would love to a someone who would walk him on a leash then bring him in the house to relax. If outside he works hard as a guard dog. You will know if someone is coming or a squirrel decides to pass by. He says he is just doing his job protecting everyone in the house. His foster home feels safer with him in it. 8/28/08 I am still looking for a home to love me. I am a sweet dog but needs time to learn to trust people. I am great with other dogs. Update 8/18/07 - I am coming out of my shell a little bit. I love being in the house with people. I still love to play with the other dogs as well. My sister Ann and I were wondering through a neighborhood. We were scared. The fleas and ticks covered our body were driving us crazy. A great family with kids were able to coax us into their backyard with food. We were skinny and hunger. They got the fleas and ticks off of us and w were very grateful. I am the more timid one. I am sweet but I am a bit afraid of people. I love other dogs and now feel safe enough to play. I love Ann but will play with others if she is busy. If you adopt me you will need to realize I will need to learn to trust you. I love kids if they are nice to me. I will make a great friend if you dare to take a chance on me.
