About Copper Todd

Distance: 595 Miles
Date into Rescue: 4/23/2018 Reason for being in rescue: found as stray in SC Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none noted Weight: 61 lb Height: estimated 53 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Yes! Estimated Birthdate: 3/18/2014 What kind of home would be best for me? We are seeking a home with an experienced dog owner. Copper needs a home with someone who is experienced with hounds. What is my personality like? Copper was found as a stray in SC and the finder reached out to us. Copper, like most hound breeds, require lots of exercise. Without exercise he is temperamental. His ideal home would be a farm he could safely run out all of his energy on or even with someone that likes to go on hikes frequently. Copper has done okay with the dogs he has met here at the farm and walks okay on a leash. He is a sweet boy once he is okay with you, he enjoys having his back scratched and being loved on just like any other dog. Copper doesn't do well here at the farm due to how hectic it can get and he needs somewhere where he can let out all of his energy without being stressed. He desperately needs his forever home! UPDATE 7/18/2019: Meet me, Copper Todd. I am a very distinguished boy who isn’t your typical hound. I like to hang out inside and be lazy but when the mood strikes I like to run and play too! I absolutely love to ride in a car. I also walk very well on a leash. Cats you ask? How dare you! I’m a hound for heaven's sake! Hounds don’t hang around cats, I would rather not be seen with one, nor live with one. I’m a hound I tell you! I’m very picky with my friends, I prefer the beautiful females. I’ve never seen one I didn’t like. Males I am very picky with and not to mention... they lick themselves and have fur on their legs, yuck! I want an active home where I get to do a lot of fun stuff but at the end of the day, I want to cuddle on the couch and feel the love. Like I said before, I am very picky about my friends so I am very cautious with humans as well. I know what I want and I don’t mind showing you. How do I act when I first meet new people? Cautious but warms up. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
