More about the shelter
The Perfect Dog, dedicated to rescuing wonderful homeless or abandoned dogs from over-crowded shelters, is an organization serving the southern Bay Area. The Perfect Dog places dogs in need into temporary foster homes, where they are socialized, trained, cleaned, and prepared for adoption. Ultimately, The Perfect Dog strives to greatly reduce the number of unwanted dogs euthanized in shelters simply due to over-crowding or being deemed unadoptable.
The Perfect Dog rescues the IMperfect dogs who have simply been overlooked at the shelter or who have special medical or behavioral issues which puts them at risk of euthanasia, and finds them the perfect homes. We never discriminate. If there is a dog in need, it doesnt matter its age, breed, condition, history, etc. If it needs help, we will do what it takes to find a way to help the dog. We believe in giving every dog a chance and we believe there is the right home for every dog out there.
adoption fee is $250 for puppies and adults, $150 for senior dogs (10+), first step is to fill out the adoption application to ensure the home will be a good fit for the dog, then we offer a foster-to-adopt week-long trial period to ensure it will work out in the new home, with a signed foster agreement, then sign an adoption agreement once they're ready to adopt.
About King and Nina
Distance: 1,528 Miles
Nina is an active 2yo 45lb border collie/german shepherd mix. She has a lot of personality and can be a total derp (tongue hanging out sideways and everything)! She's housebroken and crate trained, and walks amazing on the leash! She loves other dogs and is good with indoor cats. She is pretty high energy and enjoys going on hikes and playing with her canine siblings. She MUST go to a home where there is a resident confident adult medium-large dog (she worships the male german shepherd in her foster home but is best friends with a female Doberman the same age.. she's fine with small dogs but she's a bit too rambunctious for them). She has also discovered the comforts of the couch and loves to lay along the top and get petted while you watch movies. Because she can still be skittish with people though, she should NOT go to a home with children or apartment living (no exceptions!). She would do best in a gentle, quiet adult only home with another dog and a house with fenced yard. She has gained a lot of skills and confidence while in her foster home, but she is ready for the next chapter in her life with a new family that will continue to help her grow.

King is Nina’s companion/emotional support dog. He’s a 7-8yo purebred 75lb German Shepherd. Nina WORSHIPS him and is his shadow, follows him everywhere, and they even crate together. King is a mellow boy who prefers lounging in the house or on the couch. He would do best in a cat-free home.
They are not for first time dog owner, but when together they’re pretty easy. All they need is a couch and a yard.
Adoption fee for the two together will be $550.
Nina can also be adopted by herself without King, however, we are requiring she go to a home that has another resident dog, and that she goes with a pal pup (either King or another known friend) for the first week during the transition phase, so that she doesn’t panic in a new home.
