More about the shelter
Grateful Dogs Rescue â a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) non-profit organization â was founded in 1990 by Michelle Parris, a former SF Animal Care & Control (SF ACC) volunteer. She made it her mission to rescue SF ACC shelter dogs not made available for adoption and we continue that mission today.
Rather than letting these dogs be euthanized, Grateful Dogs Rescue saves as many as possible by fostering them until loving homes are found. Our dedicated GDR volunteers also volunteer to work with the animals at SFACC. GDR is the oldest all breed rescue group in the San Francisco bay area.
The Grateful Dogs Rescue adoption procedure is designed to find a good match between the dog and adopter. Our goal is a happy human and happy dog in a "forever home."

About Timmy
Distance: 3,942 Miles
Timmy is one handsome little fellow who is proud to announce that he has learned a lot in his foster home and he’s now ready to find his very own family! Timmy came to Grateful Dogs Rescue after a very rough time at the shelter. He was so scared no one could befriend him but one of our volunteer families
knew under that frightened growly exterior was an amazing dog. And they were right!
Here’s the 411 on Timmy. He’s a terrier mix and he’s 17 lbs and just 2 years old. Timmy is being fostered with several smaller dogs and is great with these pups. Timmy loves his foster mom and dad and grandparents. New people sometimes scare him. But he’s being exposed to lots of new things to help with his social skills. Timmy goes to work and even goes shopping. He is getting to know and enjoy the world. But he’d prefer a home without young children and no cats and no birds.
Timmy is active and fun! He loves the yard. He can spend hours just being a dog. Tossing toys, playing fetch, sniffing and sniffing some more. Timmy has nice leash manners and would love to explore the San Francisco Bay Area hiking trails.
Timmy sleeps in a crate. He is potty trained but you will need to continue to work on this. Structure is the key. Treat motivated, Timmy is looking to learn more tricks and commands. You couldn’t ask for a better best fried. Timmy will need training. He is mouthy...albiet a soft mouth ....it is not okay and he's getting that message. He's learning but someone in the past let him play that way so he has to unlearn this.
Timmy really needs a home with a yard. He needs to be able to go out and explore the yard, play and sun himself.
Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for TIMMY is $250.
If you are interested in adopting TIMMY , please complete our online adoption application at http://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process.html. One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area.
