STEFANIA aka “FANI”!   Our adorable 4-year old baby elephant, Princess Fani, saw our vet last week, and this short and stubby little darling weighed in at 130#!  She tested negative for heartworm (YAY!!), and although she had a nasty bacterial infection on her feet and lower legs, it’s already doing SO much better, thanks to some antibiotics and the nice, medicated baths her foster has been giving her (Thank you, Melissa!)  As we suspected, poor Fani was confirmed to have entropion of both eyes, so we are working on choosing a vet who does that particular type of surgery.  We’re planning on having her spayed at the same time, so we can avoid putting her under anesthesia more than once, and then she can recover from both surgeries concurrently.     *MEDICAL UPDATE* Fani has had her entropion surgery x2 and has been spayed.  She is healing up very nicely, and her vision has definitely improved!  Her skin issues were addressed, and resolved, as well.     Fani is working on potty training and her forever home will have to be diligent with cleaning under her Neo rolls every day.      Molosser breeds tend to not handle change well, so we are allowing Fani to decompress, and then we’re going to spend some time getting to know her better.  If you’re wanting to adopt a dog immediately, please do not apply for Fani, as we are not in a hurry to move her again quickly, and we’d like her next move to be her last.  We ARE taking applications for Fani, though, so please submit an app, in order to be considered whenever we decide the time is right.     To be considered for Fani, you must meet the following minimum criteria:   *  Must own your own home *  Must have secure 6’ fenced yard *  Must be able to physically handle a 130# dog that has not been leash trained (we are working on leash training) *  Must have guardian breed experience, preferably breed-specific experience *  Must have no children under 10-years old living in the home full-time (Fani loves kids, and this is due to liability and insurance reasons)  * MUST be the ONLY dog.
