More about the shelter
Maxx & Me Pet Rescue was founded by me named in memory of our golden retriever rescue Maxx who we lost at 3.5 yrs old from histiocytic sarcoma. I have been involved in rescue for years - all my dogs are rescues, I have transported thousands of animals from shelters to fosters/adopters, been on a pilots n paws flight to help a rescue. I am a real estate broker by trade and currently the majority of dogs saved are funded by me personally until we grow. We saved 23 dogs from a FL hoarder in Levy in Feb/March of this year.
Adoption fees vary. Application required, reference check, vet reference check, home visit and once approved meet and greet. Adoption contract at the time of adoption once approved. Our rescues are always returnable to our rescue and is made part of the contract.

WANTED: Adult-only home for Oscar aka Alaska.
This 3 year old, 18 pound, we're guessing Llasa/poodle mix needs someone 100% committed to his training and squelching his inappropriate need to be the boss. Per our trainer he also must have a dog in his forever home to reprimand him and continue teaching him he's not the boss. The lack of discipline or boundaries the first several years of his life made him a little unruly. He’s very loving and cuddly but also nippy when he doesn’t get his way - as these breeds tend to be often times. He is still working on leash manners so a fenced in yard is a must. He is good with other dogs.
Oscar also has idiopathic seizures but has not had a seizure while on his meds. So a pill twice a day is the answer. In his forever home, Oscar will need someone WILLING & COMMITTED to his continued medical care (ie keeping him on the medications that work for him) and his confidence building / training procedures. (We will put you in touch with our trainer and if you’re local and in his territory, we will also provide a couple sessions with Ernie to get to know how to best manage our boy and his boundaries.). He will also need a yard to enjoy, an adult-only home, and a confident buddy. The other dog requirement is not so much as a playmate - Oscar kinda just sticks to himself in that regard - but to help with his behavior and give him another dog to look to for cues.
Oscar needs someone familiar with training and dedicated to teaching him his place and sticking with the regiment establishing boundaries. Our trainer is more than happy to demonstrate for his new family effective training techniques.
Oscar is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. Adoption donation is $250.
If you would like to meet any of our dogs, please fill out an adoption application on www.maxxandme.org
