About Pops

Distance: 3,657 Miles
Have you met Pops, the three-legged wonder dog?   We rescued Pops from the San Diego Humane Society in December 2021 after he was taken there by his previous owners. He had a leg amputated while at the shelter after an untreated fracture was discovered. He gets around amazingly well as a tripod and does not let having only three legs slow him down, as you can see in the video! Pops was adopted in May 2022 but returned to our care in April 2023. He is 10 years old, weighs 16 lbs., and is a healthy boy.   When Pops' former foster family heard that he had been returned to FFF, they came for him the very same day and offered to foster him again! In their care, Pops  Pops decompressed after being left behind again by the people he loved and trusted, and he is doing very well.    Pops' foster family is dedicated to helping us find Pops a patient and understanding forever family who will love him unconditionally. Might it be you?   Here is an update from Pops' Foster Dad:   "Pops loves playing with toys, cuddling on the couch, and going for walks. He lives in a house with 7 other small dogs and does well with them  At bedtime, Pops gets tucked in with a blanket and a toy for the night. He just loves this so much, it melts your heart when he is staring to you waiting to be tucked in. He sleeps all night with no accidents. Occasionally, he asks to be on the bed.   We have been working with him on going to the groomers. He wasn't a huge fan at first but he is warming up to them. One of us usually stays with him and talks to him and lets him bury his nose in our arm throughout the entire process, but he comes out looking fantastic.   It took us a long time to be able to pick him up to put him on the bed, couch, or car. There is a trick to it. Pops likes to eat alone, not with other dogs, and he doesn't like it when you sneak up behind him. You always have to talk to Pops. Get him to make eye contact, and work slowly with him.   Even though he only has three legs, he can jump up on the couch. He can outrun you. Once he is comfortable with you, he will snuggle with you, give you kisses, and give you some belly. He will not eat his breakfast until you put in a pump of his fish oil supplement. If you forget and put his food down, he will stare at you like, "Didn't you forget something?"   We have spent every day working with him and working on his behaviors, and it is amazing to look back and see just how far Pops has come! He is such a lovable boy and is ready for his forever home. He's been through a lot and needs that special someone to make him feel safe and loved. Pops will require some time and patience, but he will open up and trust you when he feels safe. We hope he finds his special family."   To give Pops the forever home he so deserves, please complete our placement questionnaire at:  www.frostedfacesfoundation.org/apply Learn more about our programs at:  www.frostedfacesfoundation.org/family  No adoption fees, and we provide free medical care at FFF Veterinary Hospital!   Questions:  adopt@frostedfacesfoundation.org
