About
We give dogs the most important ride of their life. Founded in 2012, our volunteer-based charity has transported close to 2,500 dogs across North America and internationally that are at the threat of being euthanized. Working in partnership with shelters, we identify and transport dogs on buses, cars and planes to pre-qualified homes in Alberta and the Eastern Region of B.C. When our dogs have adjusted from their journey and settled into their foster homes, they are either adopted by the foster or become available for adoption.
We are addressing an international crisis about shelter over-populations, owner dog surrenders and discriminatory breed specific legislation. We believe that every dog deserves a new leash on life.
We consistently seek fosters, funds, partners and volunteers.

Our Vision
Our vision is of a world where all pets are well cared for in loving homes for life & away from the threat of Breed Specific Legislation - because of how they look.
We aim to achieve this vision by:
Promoting good animal welfare and responsible pet ownership by providing support, guidance and education to members of the public.
Working with many organizations to help animals, whoever and wherever the need is.
Providing the best possible care for all animals.
Setting standards of animal welfare in Canada, the USA and beyond.
Our Values
We strive to end the suffering of companion animals everywhere.
We aim to find the right home for every animal in our care and will not quit until every animal is placed.
We endeavour to support anyone who needs help in caring for their pets. Life happens and we understand.
We believe the emotional and physical well-being of every animal we look after is paramount and is our first consideration.
We value our volunteers, supporters, and our partners. We know without you, there would be no "us".
We pride ourselves on being open, honest, and dedicated in every aspect of our work.

Gizmo's charm is his incredibly short legs but his incredible determination to figure out stairs has been exciting to watch. He took several days to feel at home and spend time out of his house. He needed more than a small amount of encouragement those first few days. He is timid and unsure of anything strange, but thinks the cats are for his entertainment and playtime.
He takes a while to warm up to strangers, but soft encouragement and rubs under his chin go a long way. He is best in a harness because even though he is small, he is mighty and I think should he be startled and want to run badly enough that there is only a really tight collar that would hold him. Therefore for his safety, we have been using a harness.
He has the timid temperament of the herding breeds along with the stubbornness, but he loves to get praise and his favorite snack. In one 45 minute hike, we had heel right at my left leg down pat. Gizmo has learned fetch and seems to love to do anything that will bring praise or belly rubs.
Gizmo is a quiet boy, has not barked once yet while he has been here with us. Has whined a couple of times when the cat did not cooperate with his plans. He seems to have housetraining down pretty well with only a couple of accidents which seemed to be more of dominance than accident.
Come is not in Gizmos vocabulary yet, but he is trying very hard to learn. He needs to go outside currently with a training leash on him so he can be brought back inside when time. Like a good herder, he gets focused, sometimes on his own fear and does not hear anything you are saying to calmly get him to come in.
I think Gizmo would come out of his shell quickly if brought into a home with another well behaved dog. He is super sweet and lovely temperament.
