About
We give dogs the most important ride of their life. Founded in 2012, our volunteer-based charity has transported close to 2,500 dogs across North America and internationally that are at the threat of being euthanized. Working in partnership with shelters, we identify and transport dogs on buses, cars and planes to pre-qualified homes in Alberta and the Eastern Region of B.C. When our dogs have adjusted from their journey and settled into their foster homes, they are either adopted by the foster or become available for adoption.
We are addressing an international crisis about shelter over-populations, owner dog surrenders and discriminatory breed specific legislation. We believe that every dog deserves a new leash on life.
We consistently seek fosters, funds, partners and volunteers.

Our Vision
Our vision is of a world where all pets are well cared for in loving homes for life & away from the threat of Breed Specific Legislation - because of how they look.
We aim to achieve this vision by:
Promoting good animal welfare and responsible pet ownership by providing support, guidance and education to members of the public.
Working with many organizations to help animals, whoever and wherever the need is.
Providing the best possible care for all animals.
Setting standards of animal welfare in Canada, the USA and beyond.
Our Values
We strive to end the suffering of companion animals everywhere.
We aim to find the right home for every animal in our care and will not quit until every animal is placed.
We endeavour to support anyone who needs help in caring for their pets. Life happens and we understand.
We believe the emotional and physical well-being of every animal we look after is paramount and is our first consideration.
We value our volunteers, supporters, and our partners. We know without you, there would be no "us".
We pride ourselves on being open, honest, and dedicated in every aspect of our work.

About Deezer
Distance: 3,235 Miles
Meet the sweetest,4-year-old tripod around, Deezer (aka DeeDee, Deezy, Deez)! She has recently made a long journey from Thailand and has adjusted wonderfully to Canada! She is about 35 pounds and smaller than she looks!
Deezer had a previous leg injury, which resulted in an amputation of her back leg! But that doesn't stop her!! She LOVES to be outdoors and go on walks and is overall a very healthy girl, not currently requiring any medications or specialized diets. She does well on lead, pulling gently to get in all the smells of her new surroundings!
Everywhere we bring Deezer, she gets compliments on how sweet and good tempered she is! And we couldn't agree more!! She loves approaching people with a happy tail and soft nudge of her head to get plenty of pets. She seems to especially love attention from men but is so patient with everyone, including children of all ages!
Deezer unwillingly goes in her crate for bedtime but has free roam during the working day hours while we are away. When alone, things have been great, despite a few occasions of things in our living room being rearranged! However, we notice that if you bring her for an AM walk before work, she tends to just snooze while you're away. She has never had an accident in our home and holds her pees like a champ!
Because of her retriever tendencies, Deezer needs a LOT of mental and physical stimulation. For this reason, we think a home that can provide plenty of stimulation and time with Deezer would be her best fit for a forever home. If you ARE home and are not paying enough attention or stimulation, she will let you know by pulling every toy out of her bin, whining, and/ or pacing, and/ or finding something to chew on.
Deezer does well with other animals, initially showing caution and avoidance on first meetings. She will give warning growls if they are in her space or around her toys she is playing with. After she gains comfort around them, she gently goes in for smells, but overall, she seems to not take much interest in them. She has not been cat tested in my home, but we can't foresee it being an issue!
If you would love to give this gem a fuuurrrever home, you will not be disappointed! Please send an adoption application to BARCS today!
