More about the shelter
Since our humble beginnings in December 2002, Joyful Rescues has grown into a 501(c)3 non-profit corporate team of volunteer animal lovers reaching out to help homeless dogs, puppies, cats and kittens in need of love, affection and forever homes. We are a no-kill shelter – meaning we never euthanize for space.
Our primary goals here at Joyful Rescues are to re-home pets and save them from becoming homeless in the future, educate the public on pet care and spaying/neutering to control the pet overpopulation, to spay/neuter every pet before they leave us and spay/neuter as many pets, belonging to the public, as possible within our means.
Strict Adoption Application required, Fees vary - see website www.joyfulrescues.org
About Tom
Distance: 463 Miles
Joyful Rescues is considering Tom to be a sanctuary kitty with us. It's not that he is feral as are the other 6 sanctuary kitties here that live in the basement, garage, outside, with cat doors open 24/7. Tom is a friendly kitty, but he seems really elderly and it also seems that he has lived a rather rough life and likely mostly, if not all, outside. He was not neutered until he arrived....maybe his playboy days were over so he decided to find a nice retirement home as he invited himself to live here. Whether one of the other cats showed him all the doors or he found them himself is a mystery, but he's not the first kitty to simply appear in our basement. He was afraid of us humans at first, but warmed up quickly once he realized he was safe. Tom is very happy here and hangs around the humans when outside. We have noticed that his eyes seem "weepy" and his breathing is audible. Other than this he seems healthy for his age and has a good appetite and gets around just fine. Just an absolute guess maybe he was born in 2009. Would we welcome an adoption for Tom? Yes, as long as we felt he would be happier there than he is here.
A cat can live 12-18+ years if cared for properly. Be sure you are able to care for it for its lifetime. The ADOPTION FEE: There is no fee for Tom.
YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A CAT FROM JOYFUL RESCUES
We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.
