More about the shelter
SNAP Cats is dedicated to the rescue and care of special needs cats.
Animal shelters, cat rescues and sanctuaries are full. Innocent cats are being killed due to lack of space and/or funds. The first cats to be killed are special needs, elderly and feral cats, or cats who arenât deemed âadoptable.â Thatâs unacceptable.
SNAP Cats is the only rescue and/or sanctuary in Sonoma County dedicated to special needs cats. SNAP Cats' specific focus is rescuing these cats, housing them, then finding them loving homes. We believe, if given a few more days or weeks or months, an older or special needs cat can find the home that they deserve.
Therefore all cats at SNAP Cats, regardless of health, age or temperament, are available for adoption or foster care. Those who cannot or are not adopted, due to age, illness or temperament, are able to live out the remainder of their natural lives in a peaceful, healthy, serene environment, free from judgment or harm.
Varies depending on the cat and their special needs. An application needs to be filled out. References will be contacted. For local adoptions SNAP Cats does a house inspection. The adoption fee is a donation in an amount the adopter feels is appropriate.
About Coconut
Distance: 1,552 Miles
Coconut is sponsored by: Stephanie Upton
SNAP Cats rescued Coconut from Bakersfield, CA, where he was going to be euthanized for being FIV+. Yes, that still happens in 2022! Which is SO sad because Coconut is a very sweet, super friendly cat that loves human attention. He’s the first kitty to greet you when you enter the room. Coconut can be combative with other cats, but mellows a bit once he gets to know them. Coconut would be best as an only cat, but would probably be fine with an older cat that keeps to themselves.
