More about the shelter
Heartland Humane Society of Missouri is a 501(c)3 non-profit group of
dedicated foster homes that gives abandoned, abused, and unwanted
animals another chance for loving, permanent homes through our
adoption program, following the no-kill philosophy. We reduce pet
overpopulation in our community through collaboration with
veterinarians, animal welfare organizations, and supportive
individuals and organizations by providing affordable spay/neuter
procedures and humane education. Heartland Humane Society of Missouri
is funded by adoption fees, donations, fundraising events, grants and
tributes.
the first step in our process is an
application. The questions on the application are designed to
determine if the pet would be a good fit in this home. We contact the
applicants veterinarian to verify they have a good history of
previous (or current) pet care. We meet the applicant at Petsmart or
at their home to allow them to interact with the pet they are
interested in adopting. If all goes well the adoption is finalized.
We have an adoption contract, requiring regular vet care, indoor
homes, return to us if it doesnt work out, etc. Our dog adoption fee
is $175, cats range from $80 for older cats to $125 for kittens
About Crystal
Distance: 1,232 Miles
Crystal had an owner who wanted to do what was best for her. She came to rescue. She got adopted but then was returned after a month. It was stated that she was going out of the box and they did not want to take her to the vet. We, of course, brought her back to us and promptly got her to the vet. She had a UTI and was treated. She has had no issues since then.
When she came to us the first time she had not been spayed and she was grumpy. Very grumpy. We promptly got her spayed and her uterus was very unhealthy. After that nasty thing was gone, Crystal transformed to a loving girl. She rubs on you, loves pets, follows you around and gives back all the love you give her.
Crystal does not like to be picked up. So to just scoop her up and carry her is a big don't do it! It most likely scares her silly. I mean, we are huge compared to her and her feet on not on solid ground. So I am sure you can understand. She loves to be loved and she gives love back. She is a senior cat so she would love to have the perfect home to spend the rest of her golden years in!
Crystal needs her eyes wiped daily at least. As her fur it white it does show her eye discharge more. Her eyes being wiped are to keep that from building up. She will need brushing daily. She was very matted when she came to rescue and did have a shave down to get rid of those.
Crystal also had a dental. They pulled some teeth that needed to come out and she was already missing teeth. She eats dry food just fine.
Her face is not as smushed as some, and her breathing seems to be good! Crystal also LOVES to talk.
Crystal is fine with other cats and older children after a proper introduction.
Experience with the Persian breed is a plus!
Crystal is a love. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, flea treated, FIV/FeLV tested negative and microchipped. HHS tag 13667dw
