More about the shelter
Breed specific rescue. Pure bred basset hound rescue (mixes rarely taken, but we will crosspost for all breed rescues). We take in owner-surrender hounds and pull from shelters all over northern CA. Our intention is that no basset will ever die in a shelter or from lack of care in the hands of their guardian.
Application form followed by home or phone interview. Contract signed before transfer of dog. Fees based on age of dog. Dogs aged 8 and over eligible for reduced price adoptions to adopters aged 65 and over (Golden Oldies program). All GGBR adopted hounds must be returned to GGBR if the adopter cannot keep the dog. No placement for chained or yard dogs (indoor/outdoor ok). Dogs matched to the best possible home for the dog!
About Bella
Distance: 1,559 Miles
Bella’s owner, who has provided good care for her, needs to surrender Bella because of her increasing work responsibilities. Bella is a 49-pound spayed female, approximately 6+ years old and is a basset mixed with some other breed. She is up to date on all her vetting, house trained, microchipped, and is in good health. Bella is shy and fearful of strangers, at first, but after warming up, she loves attention and affection. She is hesitant around other dogs, slowly becoming comfortable and might play a little, but otherwise keeps to herself. Bella pulls when on leash and barks and lunges at other dogs when on the leash with her owner. She is best with dogs of similar size or larger and has never had issues with other dogs when attending day care. She has no experience with cats nor much experience with children.
