Mission Statement
Havanese Rescue Inc. (HRI) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization formed for the charitable purposes of rescuing purebred Havanese and Havanese mixes which are homeless or soon-to-be-homeless, including those found in animal shelters or similar facilities and those relinquished by their owners. The dogs are provided with the attention, care and medical treatment necessary including spay/neutering. HRI also focuses on education of the public regarding puppy mills and responsible dog ownership including spay/neutering, training and humane care of Havanese and other pets.
If someone is interested in adopting one of our rescues, they must submit an Adoption Application. Once submitted, the applicant will receive an acknowledgment from our Assistance team with the email address of the State Contact (SC) in the applicant's state. The SC, forwards the application to other SC's if the applicant is interested in a dog in another state.
If an applicant meets the requirements of the rescue dog, then the foster or the SC contacts the applicant. A home visit of the applicant is required.
If the potential adopter is approved by the foster and SC, a request for an Adoption Fee is submitted to the Dog Management along with the Adoption Application. Our fees range from $50 to $500 depending on the age and health of each dog.
All of our applicants, once approved, get a telephone call from our Pre-Adopt Committee to remind the adopters of the dangers involved with a newly adopted dog.

Needs another dog
Photogenic Puppy is a happy and playful guy who enjoys spending time with his people as well as the other dogs in his foster home. He’s quite fond of his foster siblings and relies on them for companionship when his people are not available to spend time with him.
Puppy also gets along with cats.
We have not seen him interact with children while in foster care.
Puppy is moderately active. He enjoys his walks and likes exploring the environment, both inside and out. He also likes playing with toys.
If you’re a family on the go, Puppy is a happy traveler and would like going along for the ride.
Currently, Puppy seems sensitive to unexpected noises. We’re not sure if this is an aspect of his adjustment to his new environment or if this is part of his personality. Overall, he is adjusting well to his foster home. He seems a little anxious about being left alone as well as when being bathed or groomed.
Puppy is house trained and leash trained and is ready to join the family fortunate enough to adopt him.
Puppy is being fostered in New York.
