About Duke

Distance: 3,699 Miles
Hi, my name is Duke. It's too bad that I don’t live in England because I'm sure I would have a family to love and protect and a life style that is befitting my name!  I joined Rescue almost two years ago and because of my good looks, I was quickly adopted.  Unfortunately, the day after I was adopted, my family decided to show me off at this big party with dogs and kids and lots of people.  There was so much going on.  So many people, so much noise, so much commotion.  I was absolutely overwhelmed!  When I am overwhelmed, I am not always on my best behavior.  I'm sorry but I just can't help it.  A few weeks later a nice volunteer took me to her home where I met and got along with other dogs and her daughter.  But again there were so many parties and all these “friends” kept coming over the house.  Yes, I was overwhelmed.  And I thought I had to protect my human mom from all those people who made all that noise.  The next thing I know, I was back in the kennel.  Again.  I am not a puppy.  I am not looking for a wild and crazy home!  I am an adult dog and I am looking for a nice, quiet family who will give me a chance to be the good dog that I know I can be.   I am obedient and quite self confident.  I am house broken and I LOVE riding in the car with my humans.  You can ask any volunteer or dog in the kennel and they will tell you that I am a very nice dog.  All I need is an established family where the humans will respect my space and give me guidance, direction, and mentoring.  I am lucky to be invited to the Coastal swim party almost every Friday. I don’t enjoy swimming as much as some of the other dogs but I do enjoy the bone munching session.  I was told that I am very pleasant company to both dogs and humans when we are there.  So, please check me out!  I might not be a duke in British royalty but I am handsome, affectionate, and loyal. Please visit http://www.coastalgsrsd.org/ to learn more about our dogs. Click on   available dogs   to see further descriptions. If you are interested in me, please contact Teresa atbaltao@sbcglobal.net or call (858) 779-9149. Don't forget to fill out our online   application. The minimum adoption donation ranges from $300 to $400. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is 100% tax deductible. Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems. Our adoption process begins with completing an application on-line. A phone screening will soon follow, and lastly a home visit will be conducted by our volunteers. We show our dogs at adoption events every weekend! Check our our website to see where we'll be next! Coastal German Shepherd Rescue of Southern California is a non-profit 501(c)3 public charity dedicated to finding loving homes for abandoned German Shepherds.
