About Alpha

Distance: 289 Miles
Hi … my name is Alpha and here are some things you need to know about me!  After you read through my bio, if you think I might be the perfect pup for you, please go to and complete your adoption application online. I AM A SUPER SENIOR AND I DO HAVE A FEW SPECIAL NEEDS!  Alpha is a very handsome boy with the most luxurious coat ever.  He is pretty easy-going and gets along with most of his foster siblings, although he will challenge unneutered males.  He does not like other dogs in his face or sniffing him and he will ‘low growl’ to warn them off.  He must have a person who is able to be a strong pack leader setting strict expectations for him and his behavior.  He is so smart and completely devoted to people, and he is a joy to have around.  He is just a great guy and he is ready to start his new life with a great new forever family! If you do not feel like you can adopt and meet his special needs, you can still help him by sponsoring his extended care with tax-deductible donations.  A one-time donation, or monthly or quarterly donations designated for Alpha's care will be appreciated.Approximate age/birthdate:  born ~2010Weight/size:  45 lbs                    Housebroken:  YESCrate trained:  YES (doesn’t like being crated, but will do it for short periods of time)Personality:  reserved until he decides he can trust you, picks a person and is protective, definitely an alpha male Energy level:  mediumFenced yard required?:   YES – NO EXCEPTIONS - he needs to get off-leash exercise daily.  Must be a physical fence, no underground fences. Does he/she jump fences?  NO but he is very athletic and could if he decided he wanted to Leash walk:  YESObedience training:  Knows ‘sit,' listens well if he respects youRiding in vehicles:  RIDES OK       Spayed/neutered:   YESUp-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YESMicrochipped:   YESSocial with other dogs:  YES but must be introduced properly.  He is definitely an alpha male and does not do well paired with another alpha personality canine.  He plays well with most of his foster friends, but does not do well with unaltered males.Social with cats:  NO Cats - absolutely would do harm to a cat         Good with children:  Hasn’t been around children in foster home but will probably be fine with older (12 yrs old or older), respectful children Adoption donation:  $75 We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible. When your reference checks are completed and your application is tentatively approved, we will schedule a home visit and a meet-and-greet to see if Alpha picks you too.  If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption contract to be signed and a requested adoption donation. Please feel free to email if you have additional questions.
